Still a chance for all-American final at Wimbledon
Despite a rough week for U.S. tennis at Wimbledon, there’s still a good chance for an all-American final. No U.S. men reached Monday’s fourth round, but the Williams sisters swept their first three matches without dropping a set. And upsets that claimed No. 1-ranked Ana Ivanovic and No. 2 Maria Sharapova improved the chances of the first Serena-vs.-Venus final at a Grand Slam tournament since Wimbledon in 2003.
The sisters were to play their round-of-16 matches back-to-back Monday on Court 2 _ nicknamed the ‘Graveyard of Champions’ for its history of upsets. The sisters were also scheduled to play doubles together on the same court.
